My name is Jonah Porter. Some of you may remember me as “Michael” or just “Porter”. A while back, I changed my name and now I just go by Jonah.
I am a Christ follower (or at least I try my hardest, sometimes I feel I fall short). I am a husband to my awesome and lovely wife, Robyn. I am a father to five great children. I am also a youth minister.
I love disc golf, I read tons of comic books and science fiction. I am a nerd and a geek. I love gadgets and anything made by Apple. I listen to mostly hard rock, although I do love the classics (Led Zepplin, the Eagles, Johnny Cash…) I grew up wanting to be a rock star, but that didn’t turn out to be God’s plan for me. A couple of my buddies did make it though.
I am not ashamed of the Gospel. I am not ashamed of my friends. I am real, authentic and transparent. I don’t pretend to be anything but me.
Some people are uncomfortable with that because I don’t fit into their “box”, but thats ok, I love you anyway.
I am halfway through my seminary classes at Nashota House Theological Seminary. I have felt the call to priesthood for most of my life. I’m not sure yet if that is what God has in store for me, but I’m trying to faithfully follow Him.
In the meantime, I’m currently serving as Youth Minister and Church Administrator at Church of the Resurrection in Sherman. I’m also do the Social Media for the Rialto Theater in downtown Denison, as well as run the concession stand, clean up, put together the trailers and pre-show entertainment and whatever else they need done! I also make T-shirts with The Atomic G and do their social media as well.
