It just has to work...

So, the other day, I'm driving around and I hear this commercial. Its for a battery... you've probably heard them, the ones where they say that such-and-such only uses whatever batteries, because "they just have to work".

Now, to be fair to the battery-maker, I've thought about it since, and i realize that what they mean is that "it just has to work", like its really important, but what i was thinking of at the time was that they meant that it "just has to work"... like, its not the best, but it just has to do the job.
This got me to thinking about fast food workers.

Interestingly enough, i was thinking about this while in line at McDonalds.
I had ordered 100 chicken nuggets (hey i was hungry!), a Diet Dr. Pepper and a regular Dr. Pepper.
When I got to the window, the lady hands me my stuff... Here is how the conversation goes.
"Here is your Dr. Pepper.... Here is your Diet Coke."
"Diet Coke?"
"Yes, that one is Dr. Pepper, this one is Diet Coke"
"I ordered Diet Dr. Pepper"

"No, that one is Dr. Pepper, this one is Diet Coke"
"But I ordered Diet Dr. Pepper!"
"Yes, that one is Dr. Pepper, this one is Diet Coke."
"I DO NOT WANT DIET COKE. I WANT DIET DR. PEPPER."
At which point. Her face goes blank. Then the lightbulb goes off.
"Oh, this is Diet Dr. Pepper"
"Really??"
"Yes, that one is Dr. Pepper, this one is Diet Dr. Pepper."
I tasted it, and it was, so I left, shaking my head at the incompetence of Drive-Thru employees, which sadly enough, I could write about every day...
I was so distracted by the drink problem that I failed to notice that they only gave me 50 Chicken Nuggets.
D'oh!
