The New Youth Room (Sherman)
Robyn and I spent a lot of time this week in Sherman cleaning up and getting the new youth room ready. We were very surprised at just how big the church there was. There are endless hallways and way more rooms than we imagined. The youth room is in a great location. Right by the doors that lead outside, just across from the kitchen and right next to a very large gym (with basketball goals!) I'll post pictures soon. We were given permission to "do whatever we wanted" to the meeting room, so Robyn and I wasted no time in getting a projector and starting tracing out huge wall logos:
We also decorated the Pottsboro youth room, but instead of painting directly on the wall, we used posterboard:
Knights of the Lord's Table:
Right now, I'm preparing to leave on a retreat with a group called the Knights of the Lord's Table. The group deserves it's own post, but briefly, it is a group sponsored by Christ Church in Sherman dedicated to the purpose of training boys to become men. I went to a "rite of passage" event at the church last week for one of the group and it was a very very cool thing. So, more on this later.

Sherman 24SEVEN now "Live"
This Wednesday, we kicked off our second youth group in Sherman. The turnout wasn't huge, but it was a good start. The main thing is that we are building a foundation to build on. So now we have to established foundations - one in Pottsboro and one in Sherman. The next step is to start adding new groups. If you know me, I'm not the best at recruiting or "selling" myself. I'm more of a "if you build it they will come" kind of guy, but that isn't necessarily going to work here (at least at first). So, prayers would be appreciated. Pray that doors open up easily for me and circumstances appear that make it more natural for me to talk to pastors about what we are doing here. Also pray that I get a little more boldness to make these circumstances happen.
Our iPhone App
I also created an iPhone app this week. It is basically a one-stop app for news and updates on all of my blogs and the 24SEVEN website. I (sort of) maintain three different blogs - this one, Porter's Corner (which is where I post my sermons and random thoughts of a spiritual nature) and Geek Minister (which is were I post "geeky" things like comic book stuff, Sci-Fi junk and other random nerdy/geeky/techy type stuff.) I separated the three blogs because some of the people who would like to read my sermons may not really care about the new Spider-Man and vice-versa. The app is currently awaiting approval from Apple. I'll let everyone know as soon as it is approved!
