Next Friday (June 23) a friend and I are going to see Iron Maiden. For me, it'll be for the 7th time, for him, the first. My very first concert was Iron Maiden and W.A.S.P. on March 4, 1985. My brother and I sat in the very last row of the upper balcony at Reunion Arena and I had the time of my life. I'll never forget it. Since then, I've seen nearly every band I've ever wanted to, with very few exceptions.
Today, I had more than a few conversations about concerts I've been to - who I've seen and who I regretted missing. I regret never making it out to a Stevie Ray Vaughn show - especially since I had several chances. I regret listening to one of my best friends who encouraged me to come out to McKinney to check out this new guy who had blown him away - Rich Mullins. I'll never have a chance to see either of those guys this side of life. But it got me thinking... how many artists have I seen?
I went through my iTunes to see. I figure if I've seen them, I probably have at least one of their albums. I was kind of surprised at the number, but more surprised at how many I'd only seen once. There are probably some bands missing, I'm sure there are a bunch of opening acts I'm leaving out - I know there were at least three bands that opened for Dream Theater when I saw them and I can't remember any of them.
Anyway here they are 94 different artists I've seen:
